Who we are

The Anthem is Georgetown University’s long-running literary magazine, publishing a bi-semesterly collection of the university community’s best poetry, short fiction, art, and photography. We solicit submissions from students, alumni, and faculty and review them weekly. We are dedicated to delivering high quality constructive feedback to all of our submitters.

How to read The Anthem? We schedule tabling events throughout the year where we hand out physical copies of the magazine. There is also always magazines that are free to take just outside The Anthem office (Leavey 409). For a digital copy, click on the magazine on our front page.

Join our editorial staff

If you are a Georgetown student, we are always accepting new editors. There is no application necessary to join the editorial board; simply show up to the meetings!

When/where do we meet?

We meet Wednesdays from 8pm to 9pm EDT in person in Leavey 409 to review the week’s submissions as a group.

What do we do in meetings?

During meetings, we normally read and critique submissions of poetry and prose. As a group, we decide whether to accept or decline each piece and what feedback to give the author.
